Romanian National authorities (Government, Ministries, Parliament and Committees of the Parliament) and Parliamentary Political Parties

Dear Sirs/Madam,

I am saddened and deeply shocked to hear the proposal regarding the mass euthanasia of the street dogs in Romania.

It is a well known fact that killing doesn’t help to control the population of stray dogs. These are innocent animals, on the streets.

As a member country of the EU the world expects to hear that you have taken the only correct and humane decision regarding the welfare of these animals. Mass killing is simply not the answer and is totally unacceptable in the civilized world.

I beg and implore you to use the taxes of your citizens to launch a mass neutering/sterilization programme. These programmes are operating within other EU countries and have proven to be completely effective in managing the numbers of strays.Put funds into adequate and suitable shelters to house the dogs before the adoption. This would be a much more economical use of funds compared to the cost of euthanasia. Educate your citizens to show animals love, care and respect they deserve.

The eyes of the world are upon Romania. Show the world that Romania is able to love and take care of its animal population.
