Misstände im Tierschutz Türkei Istanbul-Sariyer

Sariyer Barinagi'nin kapanmasi konusunda yapilan yazismalar:
Liebe Linda,
Warum so viel BlaBla?
adile

PROTEST LETTER
We were informed that the number of stray animals
has climbed dramatically over the years due to
authorities not fulfilling their duties.
Instead of properly controlling the animal farms
and pet shops, unethical and inhumane methods
like poisoning and shooting have been constantly used.
Finally, the Municipality of Istanbul agreed that
such methods do not solve the problem and
decided to privatise the services of handling stray animals.
Death camps like Tuzla and Alibeyköy dog shelters,
which lack any infrastructure and could not shelter
a few hundred animals in the past - are now faced
with an even greater task of dealing with 5.500 animals
in a short period of six months.
This private company is an insecticide importer, totally
inexperienced and
lacking the proper background, to carry out such an
assignment.
Animals are stuffed in populated cages, are cut open
inadequately, fed poorly and doomed to a hard death
or even a harder life.
NGO's have not been consulted at any stage of this project.
The Department of Environment, which according to
Turkish Law No. 5199 for the Protection of Animals was
given complete responsibility, however, they are not
involved in this project at all!!
Nearly 750,000 dollars will be paid to this insecticide
company in return for the ovaries and testicles of animals
whereby ovaries and testicles are counted and payment
made by the ''piece'' !!
We will NOT remain silent to the agony of animals in the
hands of incompetent people whose only wish is to make
money, money from cruelly removed parts.
We ask the authorities whether it is ethical to give this
tender to a company selling insecticide?
We invite the Municipality of Istanbul to first complete
the infrastructure before going ahead with the project.
We also invite the Department of Environment to assume
responsibility in the project as dictated by Law.
Best Regards
